When to test your home’s water

If you’ve moved

The quality of your water can vary depending on your water source and other environmental factors in Charlotte Area. A home water test can help determine what you’re dealing with and how to protect against future problems. If your new home has a water treatment system already, you should still test your water to ensure it is effectively addressing all current issues.

If you have a private well

Unlike municipal water systems, private wells aren’t regulated, so safety is the homeowner’s responsibility. Water testing can help uncover common issues like iron, sulfur, and bacteria. It can also detect high levels of minerals, such as calcium and magnesium, which cause hard water problems such as dry skin, dry hair, and buildup on pipes and faucets.

We had Marcus with Culligan come out for an initial visit to a house we recently purchased on Saturday. The house already had a whole-house Culligan water filtration system installed by the previous owner.My wife and I were not familiar with how to properly operate and maintain a water filtration system, so I contacted Culligan to have someone come out and educate us on the system and its proper maintenance.While scheduling the appointment, I was informed that the recommended annual service had last been completed in September 2025. I asked that the annual service also be completed during this visit, which included replacing the carbon filter.We had plenty of questions while Marcus was onsite regarding the operation and maintenance of the system, as well as recommended upgrades and additions. I recently had my recommended yearly check up completed by Culligan of Charlotte and my tech, Brandon Y. was awesome! It was pouring rain and he took great care in making sure to not track mud inside. He answered all of my questions and showed me what I needed to do to keep my water softener system preforming at it's best. I had my system installed about 2 years ago. I have had no issues with it and it works great! I have well water and before I had it installed my black faucets and shower heads always looked dirty because of white residue spots but now they stay nice and clean.
